Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary (SRS) in Way Kambas National Park (WKNP)
Rosa is a female Sumatran rhino who has been living at the SRS WKNP since November 26, 2005, after being translocated from Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP). BBSNP is located in the same province as WKNP in Lampung, with a distance of roughly 200 km between them. Since early 2004, Rosa had frequently appeared on roads, plantations, and in villages, coming into contact with vehicles and people. To protect her from poaching threats and the risk of contracting diseases commonly found in livestock, she was relocated to the SRS WKNP. Rosa is estimated to have been born in 2003.
On March 24, 2022, Rosa finally gave birth to her first calf, a female named Sedah Mirah, after surviving eight previous miscarriages.
