Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary (SRS) in Way Kambas National Park (WKNP)
Ratu has lived at the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary (SRS) in Way Kambas National Park (WKNP) since September 2005. She is a female Sumatran rhino originally from WKNP who wandered outside the protected area and was captured in Labuhan Ratu Village, located about 2 kilometers from the national park. Her name, “Ratu,” comes from the village where she was found—Labuhan Ratu, one of the buffer villages surrounding WKNP. In Indonesian, the word “ratu” also means “queen.”
Ratu is estimated to have been born in 2001 and now she has successfully given birth to three calves at the SRS WKNP: Andatu, Delilah, and Anggi.
