Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary (SRS) in Way Kambas National Park (WKNP)
Andalas has been living at the SRS WKNP since February 10, 2007, after being transferred from the Los Angeles Zoo in the United States. This male rhino was born on September 13, 2001, at the Cincinnati Zoo, the offspring of a female Sumatran rhino named Emi and a male named Ipuh. His birth was highly anticipated, as the last Sumatran rhino born in captivity had been in 1889 at the Calcutta Zoo in India. After 112 years, a Sumatran rhino was finally born again in captivity, and that rhino was Andalas.
In 2012, Andalas became the father of the first calf born at SRS WKNP, named Andatu, after being paired with Ratu. Today, Andalas has three offspring (Andatu, Delilah, and Anggi) and two grandchildren, Sedah Mirah and Indra.
