Harapan is the third Sumatran rhino born at the Cincinnati Zoo in the United States, arriving on April 29, 2007, as the offspring of Emi and Ipuh. On October 30, 2015, he departed Cincinnati for Indonesia and arrived safely on November 2, 2015, at SRS WKNP. Harapan is known as the last Sumatran rhino to leave the American continent.

In 2023, he became a father for the first time after being paired with Delilah, resulting in the birth of their calf, Indra, on November 25, 2023.
