The Rhino Guardian (Virtual Adoption) program is an innovative fundraising initiative that allows the public to participate in rhino conservation through symbolic donations linked to specific rhinos at the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary (SRS). It is designed to increase public participation and provide alternative funding for the urgent needs of rhino preservation.

The guardianship is symbolic in nature. While you do not physically own or take the rhino home, your symbolic adoption creates a real impact on the survival of rhinos in their semi-natural habitats and fosters a sense of ownership and connected toward Indonesia’s natural heritage.

Donations are used to support the high costs of conservation that require sustainable resources. Specifically, funds go toward:

  1. Providing essential food (pakan) and medical care for the rhinos.
  2. Ensuring habitat security and daily field operations at the SRS.
  3. Supporting research and breeding efforts for the Sumatran Rhino.
